Front Entry Elevation & Exterior Insulation
May 7th, 2010 by Tim Delhey Eian

This image shows the approach to the building from the road, which is a bit lower than the grade surrounding the home. The exterior insulation package is going up now and we expect to backfill soon.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere else on the website, but could you provide the construction details of how you hang a foot of styrofoam on the walls of a house and have it stay in place and also support the exterior siding? Thanks.
Mark,
The home is constructed with ICF walls. The exterior foam is essentially glued to the foam that is part of the ICF. This is a standard application for exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS).
Looks great! I will be looking forward to seeing the final product. I work for McGraw-Hill and we have seen a lot of enthusiasm from builders and homeowners alike about the usefulness of exterior insulation. It’s really on the cutting edge of insulation technology.
